To My Catholic Friends

Have you ever read through parts of the Bible and not seen what is there? I have read through the book of Romans several times and each time the Lord adds more to my understanding.

The other day I came across a couple of verses and it struck me that my Catholic friends would find this interesting:

Romans 6:9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. 10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

You see the official teaching of the Catholic Church says that every time a priest says Mass he is re-crucifying Jesus Christ. Of course some will deny this, so let’s have a look at their official teaching, the official Catholic Catechism:

1374 “The mode of Christ’s presence under the Eucharistic species is unique. It raises the Eucharist above all the sacraments as “the perfection of the spiritual life and the end to which all the sacraments tend.”201 In the most blessed sacrament of the Eucharist “the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity, of our Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained.”202 “This presence is called ‘real’ – by which is not intended to exclude the other types of presence as if they could not be ‘real’ too, but because it is presence in the fullest sense: that is to say, it is a substantial presence by which Christ, God and man, makes himself wholly and entirely present.”

This is in contrast to the teachings of Saint Paul, both in the above verses and even in an earlier passage:

Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith

You see Christians don’t need a “real” physical presence. We have the Holy Spirit who was given to us when we were saved. We receive Him by faith, not by sight.

There are other passages that contradict the teachings of the Catholic Church:

Hebrews 7:26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; 27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

You see, Jesus offered himself once, on the cross. It is an insult to Christ that one would say that he needs to be offered again and again. That one sacrifice was sufficient for all sin of all time!

Hebrews 7:26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; 27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

Jesus is God, and God is infinite. Therefore, His blood has infinite value! The Catholic Mass insults God by redirecting worship from the Father and Son to a piece of bread and wine:

Again from the New Catholic Catechism:

1378 Worship of the Eucharist. In the liturgy of the Mass we express our faith in the real presence of Christ under the species of bread and wine by, among other ways, genuflecting or bowing deeply as a sign of adoration of the Lord. “The Catholic Church has always offered and still offers to the sacrament of the Eucharist the cult of adoration, not only during Mass, but also outside of it, reserving the consecrated hosts with the utmost care, exposing them to the solemn veneration of the faithful, and carrying them in procession.”208

No doubt some will point out John 6:51-58 to say that this is what Jesus was teaching:

51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. 52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. 58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

While the people present thought Jesus was speaking literally, as Catholics do today, Jesus went on to clarify what He meant:

61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? 62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? 63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Jesus was speaking of eating Himself in a spiritual context, not literally. We take in the substance of His teachings, and His character, and we make that a part of us.

Context, in the bible, does not mean just the verse before and the verse after, but the entire bible!

So many people eat the bread, and drink the wine, and go away believing that this act has saved them, when in fact Jesus is not a part of their life!  Eating Him physically has no benefit! You have to take Him in spiritually! Read John 6:63 again!

So, where is Jesus today? Is he being sacrificed on Catholic altars, again and again? What does the Scripture say?

Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Ephesians 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

Colossians 3:1
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Hebrews 1:3
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Jesus purged our sins BY HIMSELF!  You cannot add to your salvation, you can only accept the salvation He offers!

Hebrews 8:1
Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

Hebrews 10:12
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

I Peter 3:22
Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

When God wants to emphasize something in Scripture he repeats it. What can we make of this repetition here? Any teaching that contradicts the clear teaching of Scripture can’t be trusted! Jesus is sitting at the right hand of His Father and he is interceding for His children, his Church. He is not subject to death. He does not need to die ever again, but is gloriously alive, and holds the keys of life and death!

Radioactive Decay Rates Observed Fluctuating

One of the primary “scientific” tests used to support the supposed long age of earth’s history is radioactive dating.  There have been many scientific refutations of these dating methods done over the years, the most recent has been done by the Institute for Creation Research’s RATE project.  This latest study has shown that radioactive decay rates fluctuate according to the proximity to the sun.  Tests done at different times of the year show a remarkable difference in decay rates.

 

What this means is that dates obtained through use of these techniques are compromised and cannot be relied upon.  Evidence is that “scientists” cherry pick the dates they want when reporting the age of fossils.  Dates are determined by the layer of rock the fossil comes from, and then the layer of rock is dated by the fossils it contains.  This is circular reasoning, and is practiced by “learned men” in our universities!  Much learning has little value if you start with the wrong assumptions!

 

First came the hypothesis that the earth is extremely old, and then the “scholars” looked for evidence that this is so.  The forms that scientists fill out when submitting samples to labs have a box for the “Estimated Age” of the sample.  Why would they need to supply an estimated age if the process was fool-proof?  The answer is that any sample will give multiple dates, when broken down into multiple samples.  The technician simply uses the sample that is closest to the estimated age, and discards the rest as contaminated.  The reported date then comes from the mind of the researcher and not from empirical data.

 

What I am saying is that they are playing mind-games with the public.  What is at stake is millions of dollars of tax revenue given as grants to these institutions.  If they can convince us that they are correct then they can continue to collect our tax money to support their “research”.

 

In the mean time real scientific organizations have to rely on donations from supporters because they can’t get government money.  If you have the ability to support some real research I would urge you to support the Institute for Creation Research, Creation Ministries International, and Answers In Genesis.  Even if you can’t support them today, I would urge you to read the following articles.  The information presented is extremely important:

What I am saying is that the only way to know the true age of the earth is to ask its designer.  He told us in His Word, when He made the earth.  While we can’t know the exact age, to the day, we can figure it out to within a few decades.  You don’t have to be a scientist to do so.  God is quite happy to give his truth to babes, and children, and let the arrogant flounder around, trusting themselves!

Consistently Inconsistent in Barrie

When I set up Housetops it was my intention to focus on Christianity, Prophecy, and Big Picture political news, and that is still my intent. Today, however, I would like to focus on a small, local problem that is occurring in the city in which I live, Barrie, Ontario, because I believe this is an issue that plagues all of humanity.

Early in July, 2011, my wife and I were walking our dog through one of our lake-front parks, Allandale Station park, and when we got to the end of it we kept on walking to another park, just a block away. In the second park, Minet’s Point park, we were walking through the parking lot, and right in front of a sign that says “Dogs Must be Leashed”, and another sign that says “No Dogs Allowed On Beach”, we were confronted by a bylaw enforcement officer who told us that we could be fined for having our dog in the parking lot of that park!

I pointed out to the officer that we were standing in front of two signs that indicated that we were allowed to have our dog in the location where we were situated. Her response was that you can’t believe the signs that the city of Barrie puts up, but you have to go and read the bylaws before you can take your dog for a walk!

She proceeded to produce a laser printed copy of the bylaw in question.

5.3.0.0.0 No owner of a dog shall allow his dog to trespass on private property even when on a leash.

5.4.0.0.0 No person shall allow a leash to extend beyond a length of six (6) feet and such leash must be held or restrained by a competent person who can reasonably control the dog.

5.5.0.0.0 No owner of a dog shall allow his dog in any waterfront park.

Even at the entrance to the park there is no sign that dogs are not allowed. Usual practice is that when new laws are introduced, or old laws are changed, public notice is given, and a time is set when the new laws are to take effect. It is also usual practice to solicit public comment when laws are changed. I do not know if this practice was followed since I did not know the law had been changed. Surely there is some responsibility on the part of City Council to ensure that everyone in the community has the opportunity to see, and comment on, these laws before they come into effect? Who is the taxpayer, and who is City Council responsible to? Who is it who put these people into office? How many people in Barrie actually knew that the law had been changed?

Unlike in totalitarian dictatorships, in the west the principle has been that our elected representatives are responsible to the electorate. To my knowledge it is still that way.

This bylaw enforcement officer also informed me that there is an exception to the law which allows dogs to be walked on pathways in Centennial park. She did not produce any corroborating evidence to this statement, although I have since found some on the City of Barrie website:

5.6.0.0.0 Notwithstanding Section 5.5.0.0.0, the owner of a dog may lead the dog, provided it is on a leash not exceeding 6 feet in length, on any signed walking path in Heritage Park, Allandale Station Park and Centennial Park.

In other words, “the bylaws which you find herein may not be current or accurate, and you must call the City Clerk’s Office if you really want to know what the Barrie Bylaws actually say”.  The city is promoting confusion and avoiding responsibility, with this disclaimer, to the point that the effort ends up becoming a joke!

You can go to the official website of the City and download the Bylaws, but at the outset, you are warned that what you are reading may actually be inaccurate, or obsolete, even before you read it!  Why bother?

How much effort does it take to keep a website up-to-date?  I am not a full-time webmaster, yet I have often updated my own site more than once in a day.  I am quite sure the city has a full-time webmaster, and they are well paid no doubt!  Make a commitment to keep the website up-to-date within a 24 hour period, and you don’t have to put up disclaimers everywhere!

I would contend that, putting the City Bylaws on the City’s official website is a waste of time and money, if they are not current and official. The Bylaw in question was passed some time in 2010, and here we are a year later, and the city has not seen fit to update the signs in its parks! This is an irresponsible policy.

 

City signage is actually official communication from the City government to its citizens, and visitors, and should accurately reflect its bylaws. No one puts up artificial signs in our parks, or streets, that purport to be communication from the City, especially signs printed on metal backing. Pranksters don’t put a lot of money into pranks! A metal sign with the official logo of the city should be as good as gold to its readers! Furthermore, identical signs in different parks should have identical meanings.

 

Would a police officer give a driver a speeding ticket for going 80 km/h in a 50 km/h zone, if the posted limit was actually 80 km/h?  He can’t do so until the signs are changed to reflect the new limit.  So why do we allow our local governments to defy logic, and the law?  I know, everyone is too busy to be bothered!

When Bylaws are enacted it should be official policy to make our signs match the law as quickly as possible, not to wait for a whole year or more! This is the whole point of a period of grace, to allow knowledge to become public, and to allow city staff the opportunity to update all forms of official communication to reflect the new reality.

As we have seen above, the disclaimers on the official City of Barrie website, effectively make the down-loadable bylaws nul and void. This is a huge problem in the western world, and Barrie is not alone. In Canada, and the United States, we have so many laws, bylaws, statutes and rules, that there is not one citizen, bylaw officer, police officer, lawyer, politician, or Judge, who knows every law in his respective nation and municipality. There are so many laws that if you take the time to read them, not only will it take your entire life, but you are guaranteed to forget them almost immediately after reading them, because of the massive information overload!

 

Even our Supreme Court Justices have to go and study the law before rendering a verdict.  If our most learned men, and women, don’t know every nuance of the law, how are the rest of us to figure it out?  The next time you see something you don’t like and you want to say “There should be a law against that”, think again before you open your mouth!  Canada is full of these “do-gooders” who bind us up in a myriad of laws that make slaves of all of us!  Such people are a part of the problem!

A Magnificent Deception

As I stated in my last post, Satan is the master of deception.  Even though we have seen him practice producing false Antichrists, with men such as Antiochus, Nero, Napoleon, Hitler, and Stalin, most do not think he would do it again in the last days!  Such an attitude is extremely dangerous, and delusional!

The last days is the time when Satan is more desperate than he has ever been.  He knows his time is extremely short, and this is precisely why now is the time when his deception will be the “best” he has ever produced. Satan’s greatest love is himself!  In fact it’s his only love.  He wants to prove that God is a liar, for if he could do so, even once, then God would be forced to admit that He is not a lot better than Satan, and could not justly send Satan or any one else to the Lake of Fire.  If he has to go there, it appears that he would like as much company as is possible.  Perhaps to hurt God, or to deflect God’s anger away from himself, and towards others.  He is delusional, but he is very, very intelligent!

So many Christians discount the intelligence of our adversary.  We are told that “Satan only has one trick”, and this is indeed true, but I can tell you that there are endless variations of this one trick! Constant vigilance is required to keep us from getting sucked in!  Do you think you are immune to deception?  Think again!

“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall” 1 Cor. 10:12

This morning I was listening to Brannon Howse, my favorite radio host, of Worldview Weekend doing an exposé of Joel’s Army and the New Apostolic Reformation, and I must say that most of what Brannon says is true and well researched.  There was one statement that blew me away, however.  I can’t remember at what minute he said it, but the gist of it was “Joel’s army of Joel chapter 2, according to most respected bible scholars, is either a demonic army or actually a reference to Arab armies in a future war with Israel“.

The first one is correct, to the best of my knowledge, and by the literal hermeneutic.  This army of Joel chapter 2 has a lot of parallels with Revelation chapter 9, and is likely the same event.  These beings are demonic, or fallen angels, and have been locked up since some time in the ancient past.  They will be released during the Tribulation, as a judgment against those who have taken the mark of the Beast.

The second explanation is actually the one that is dangerous.  To interpret an Arab invasion of Israel as being this army, will leave people with the impression, after the Arab invasion occurs, that there is nothing more to worry about!

The Arab invasion of Israel, depicted in Psalm 83, by Asaph, is one that is imminent as we speak.  The armies are organizing, and the Arab states, who have had moderate leadership over the last few decades, are busy replacing that leadership with radicals.  I expect this war to occur probably within the next few months, to perhaps a few years.  I also expect that this war will be so bad that nuclear devices will be used!

When Asaph’s war occurs, some Christian leaders will be saying we have entered into the Tribulation period!  I expect that the same scholars, who told Brannon that these Arab armies are the armies of Joel 2, will be saying that Revelation 9 has been fulfilled, and so we should be looking for the rest of Revelation to occur shortly thereafter!

I expect Satan will be happy to oblige them!  This is the major point of The Spirit of Prophecy.  In order to get people to let their guard down, he has to make them believe the worst is over!  And so, he will give them something they think is the worst, a Pseudo-Armageddon!

Satan will produce someone Christians can really believe is the Antichrist.  He will have all the characteristics that our prophecy scholars have identified as being characteristic of this man.  If you read your bible carefully, however, you will see that he is just another counterfeit.

This same counterfeit will be used to convince Israel that it is safe to come back home!  When this Pseudo-Antichrist is defeated during the Gog and Magog war, it will be “Christians” who convince Israel that the Time of Jacob’s Trouble is over, and now it is safe for them to return home to Canaan!  And come they will!  There are millions more Israelites than most suspect.  Many of them are living as Muslims today, and are practically indistinguishable from other Arabs.  When they see that their god can’t help them they will return to the God of their fathers, and to the land they were expelled from some 2700 years ago.  They will be saying “at last, peace and safety!” and that is the time when sudden destruction will come upon them, and they will not escape!

And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly: Isaiah 5:26

Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light. Amos 5:18

Philosophy and Prophecy

Over the years, since the late 1980s anyway, I have come across numerous New Age statements that parallel the biblical account of the Tribulation and Antichrist. I had actually already begun the writing of this book before I understood that Satan is preparing his people, and the world, for a “pseudo”, or decoy tribulation period.

Even after my book was published, I keep on getting information that confirms what I am saying. Just in the last couple of weeks I found out about the artwork on display at the Denver Airport, in Colorado. (See HERE)  Have you noticed that this artwork has many parallels with the biblical account, including a Tribulation period, followed by peace on earth? The problem with their account is that their saviour is actually the Antichrist!

What this means is that these people, led by Satan, are planning a “Pseudo-Tribulation” period that will convince many that they are indeed experiencing the biblical Tribulation. The whole purpose in this is so that they will be looking for a saviour and “peace and safety” at just the exact time the Antichrist is set to rise!

If Satan were indeed attempting to convince the world that they were in the Tribulation period, would he not also attempt to replicate the major events of the bible’s account? Wouldn’t he produce a Decoy-Antichrist, and False Prophet? How about a Decoy-Harlot? What about a Decoy-Armageddon?

Isn’t it within Satan’s power to produce a bunch of counterfeits? Couldn’t he counterfeit the counterfeit? Hasn’t he already done this, many times?  Antiochus Epiphanes, Nero, Napoleon, Hitler, and Stalin, are only a few that come to mind.

I think that a European Union leader will become the stand-in for the Antichrist. I think he will broker a peace treaty between Israel and the Arabs, at the end of the Psalm 83 war.  This peace treaty will actually be the same treaty the real Antichrist will “confirm” several years later, after the Gog and Magog war!  This leader will be handsome, charismatic, Italian, and gay, and the world will point to him and say he is the Antichrist! He will likely also produce some sort of bio-chip identity system, and an economic system that works, for a time. I also think the pope will give open support to this man, leading many to identify the pope as the false prophet, which he is, he’s just not THE false prophet.

I believe that a few years later, probably during the Gog and Magog war, these men will be destroyed in a nuclear attack on Rome, or maybe even the celestial bombardment of Ezekiel 38:22. The world will look at this event and breathe a sigh of relief: “The Antichrist and false prophet are dead! Fulfillment of Revelation 17 & 18! Now is the time for peace and safety!” Most likely this event will result in the remnants of the Catholic church joining hands with the rest of the world’s religions, including protestants, and moving their headquarters to a different city, most likely Babylon, on the plains of Shinar. Rome will be uninhabitable by then.

During this same Gog and Magog war, a counterfeit Armageddon, the network of dams on the Euphrates will be used to dry up the river so the Russian, Iranian, and allied armies can cross. Again, many will point to this event and say it is fulfilment of Revelation 16:12! The problem is that, in the context of this passage, the river Euphrates will dry up because of the lack of rain, and the excessive heat, not because some dam worker pushes a button!

Do you see where I am coming from? With the perceived fulfilment of Revelation’s Tribulation passages, the next thing on the agenda is the arrival of Christ, only it will be “the Christ” of the New Age who arrives at this time, the Antichrist!

The actual Antichrist will come from somewhere much closer to Israel, than Rome. Chapter 7 of The Spirit of Prophecy provides much evidence of the true origin of the Beast, and even examines some of the Scriptures the False Prophet will use to validate the Beast’s claim to be the Christ!

One of the things that is leading to the above is the failure of Christians to study the whole bible! In these days of “Christianity-Lite”, most professing Christians are not studying all of the bible, but only selected passages, and those are filtered by our leaders! Even those who study the bible, generally avoid the Old Testament, or stick to familiar passages.

Jesus repeatedly warned us about “every word of God” and every “jot and tittle”, yet Christians are content to live with vague generalizations! If fulfilments are “sort-of like the prophecies”, that is good enough for us! I’m afraid this attitude will get us into trouble. Just as prophecies must be fulfilled 100% to be from God, they must be 100% fulfilled to be truly fulfilled…i.e. to the letter!

My book has fleshed out this theory, and has produced many more biblical references. At times I was uncomfortable with what I had included, but I believe the Lord was leading me to include them anyway! I still am uncomfortable with this book, not because I don’t believe it, but because I am aware that some people will be angry with me. I don’t like being the object of people’s anger! I didn’t write this for people, however, but for the Lord Jesus Christ. It is all for Him, and about Him! Still, I am hoping that people will indeed benefit by reading this book, some perhaps even after the rapture!

Hello World! This page is dedicated to proclaiming truth, not just opinion!

Privacy?  We are all flawed people.  Why do we hide our opinions and speak them to only our closest friends and associates?  It’s because we are afraid that people will find out the truth about us!  Business often hide the truth because they can lose money if people know their plans, which is fair.

This site is dedicated to truth at all costs.  Don’t post any opinions here that you would be embarrassed if your mother found out about!  Don’t send me any private Emails that you don’t want your mother to find out about, it might get published!

It is my intention to make this site about biblical exegesis, and to show how the passages in question relate to the real world in which we live.  Many accuse the bible of being old and out-of-date, but my contention is that it is more current than tomorrow’s newspapers, or blogs!

It is also my intention to highlight my book “The Spirit of Prophecy”, which is an expose of the bible’s End Times Prophecies.  This site will examine small sections of “The Spirit of Prophecy” and show how the things we are seeing in the news relate to The Bible’s story.  We will also spend some time examining the errors of modern preachers and prophecy scholars, because their errors can actually be dangerous!
