The Conservative Party of Canada is in a race to choose the replacement for Steven Harper, as party leader, and potentially the next Prime Minister of Canada.
I joined the Conservatives after following them on Facebook, and having been impressed by Rona Ambrose’s articles. I actually joined at the invitation of Kellie Leitch, one of the candidates, because I agree with her on defunding the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The CBC is a leftist propaganda outlet, and does not deserve Canadian Taxpayer dollars.
Unfortunately, I am not a one-issue voter.
As a Christian I attempt to view all things through biblical lenses. None of us is wise enough to make all decisions on our own understanding, or by our gut-feelings. We need an objective standard, one that has the fingerprints of God on it, the bible.
Some of the candidates talk about “Canadian values” but I have seen Canadian values shift since I was a child, and they have shifted in a negative direction!
A core issue in this and every election these days, is the issue of how we view human life, and unborn human life in particular.
The bible is very clear that the child inside its mother’s womb is actually a person from conception.
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. Psalms 139:13
So what was put together in your mother’s womb? It was you. It was not some lump of tissue, but a living human being. Being in your mother’s womb is a normal part of life, just as being a baby, a toddler, a child, a teen, middle-aged, and elderly are all normal parts of life.
I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly. Psalms 22:10
We all depend on God from conception until death. None of us is an island, and we are not independent! (You may think you are, but every breath you take is a gift from God!)
Up until very recently all societies on earth, even pagan societies, have viewed children as an asset, and a blessing! It is a sign of the depravity of our generation that this is even the subject of a debate!
In fact children are God’s plan for the welfare of the elderly.
Think about it; even in a society like Canada, where work and government pensions are common, we all need there to be a body of young people working as we grow older.
If everyone in a society decided not to have children, there would be no one working in hospitals and retirement homes, after everyone retired. There would be no one working on farms or in grocery stores when we went to get food, because they all would have retired along with us! Your old-age welfare depends on there being a large number of young people working in all facets of society!
So who are we killing when we allow abortions?
Not only are we killing a human being, made in the image of God, but we are also killing a future worker; a future grocer, farmer, garbage collector, nurse, doctor, taxi/bus driver, novelist, journalist, and perhaps even a future prime-minister!
This has been going on so long that our government leaders actually see the problem, and are doing something about it. No! They are not doing the right thing, prohibiting abortion, but they are bringing in large numbers of immigrants. And no, they are not bringing in immigrants who share our values, but aliens with a different set of morals and goals!
Think about it; will the children of Middle Eastern immigrants be happy to pay increased rates of taxation to support elderly Canadians on government pensions, especially when these Canadians did not have children of their own? These groups take care of their own elderly, and don’t rely on someone else to do it, as a rule! Why would they want to support people who did not have the foresight to have their own children?
Why indeed?
So, I read a few articles regarding the stands taken by the leadership candidates in the 2017 Conservative Party of Canada leadership race, and I would like to take a moment to share my findings;
There are a couple of candidates who are consistently Pro-Life, and another couple who tend to vote Pro-Life, and the rest don’t take much of a stand.
As Dana Loesch recently said “If you are not Pro-Life, you are not a Conservative”. I agree completely! We don’t need a Liberal in disguise as the Prime-Minister of Canada!
Here is Right Now!’s analysis on the race;
I tend to agree with them, but I’m not likely to go beyond the mid-point of this sample ballot.
Pray about it, and then vote your conscience.
Dan
