What is the “Mystery of God”?

Have you ever heard someone say “There will be no time in Heaven”? I have even heard some go so far as to say that Eternity is existence without time. (It is for God the Father, but not for angels and humans) They usually use Revelation 10:6 to back-up this claim;

5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, 6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

Now, the original Greek does not have punctuation marks, like periods, quotation marks, or colons. It was just straight text.

According to Grammarbook.com ‘A colon means “that is to say” or “here’s what I mean.”’

So, looking at our text from the book of Revelation, when we see the colon there we should understand that the text that follows it is used to explain or elaborate on the preceding text. So don’t stop reading there or you will miss something important!

Here’s the rest of the story;

7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

So, it is not time that is ending, but “the time of the mystery of God”.

There is only one other place in Scripture where this phrase is used, and it might not help all that much, but we’d better have a look at it anyway.

That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; Colossians 2:2

I think that the context of the phrase is the same as is found in Revelation 10:7, but this verse doesn’t really help us that much.

Not that we need that much help, really. A mystery is something that is difficult or impossible to explain. So what is the “Mystery of God”? Simply, the mystery of God is the fact that God is everywhere, but we can’t see Him: God has been present all around you, every day of your life, but you can’t see Him.

When we go through tough times. When we commit our secret sins. When we feel all alone, God is still present! This is the “Mystery of God”.

So what is John telling us in Revelation 10:5-7? He is telling us that at this point in the Great Tribulation, God will come out of hiding, and will be visible to humanity!

Everyone will rejoice, right? No, not exactly. As Jesus said;

And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matthew 24:30

Everyone will mourn at this event: both believer and unbeliever! The believers will mourn because they know that it is too late for their unbelieving loved ones! The unbelievers will mourn because they think the earth is under an alien attack from outer space! They will grab every possible weapon to fight against Him, and they will lose their lives fighting the King of kings, and Lord of lords!

This is the time that Jesus will put on His strange act;

21 For the Lord shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act. 22 Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord God of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.

You see, once you see Jesus it is impossible to get saved! He only saves by faith, and not by sight! Now, He will save all those who call upon Him, but those who see him, who were already deluded before He came, will never call on Him to save them! No! They will double-down and prepare to fight Him to the death!

I do not recommend the International Standard Version, for a number of reasons, but I do find it interesting how they have translated this verse;

For the Lord will stand upon Mount Perazim, he will rouse himself in the Valley of Gibeon; to carry out his work— his strange deed, and to perform his task— his alien task!

This won’t happen only on Mount Perazim and in the Valley of Gibeon, this event will occur all over the world! They should not have relied on the LXX text, but they did get the second-last word right! Jesus will be acting in a way that the lost of the world expect an Alien, from outer space, to act!

He is God: He can act any way He wants! He is doing this because He is angry with those who refuse to come when He offers Salvation, free of charge!

I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not. Isaiah 66:4

God has chosen the lie of evolution and its partner in crime, Aliens and UFOs as End Times delusions! Don’t think these ideas are innocent, they are lies from the pit of Hell, and Satan is using them to drag countless millions into the Lake of Fire with him! When you refuse to believe the bible you will fall for anything!

Jeremiah spoke of the same event, as we see in Revelation 10:7, from a slightly different perspective;

A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and an howling of the principal of the flock, shall be heard: for the Lord hath spoiled their pasture. And the peaceable habitations are cut down because of the fierce anger of the Lord. He hath forsaken his covert, as the lion: for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger. Jeremiah 25:36-38

I am focusing on the first phrase of verse 38 “ He hath forsaken his covert, as the lion”. Lions creep-up on their prey, staying hidden in the tall grass, until an unsuspecting animal gets too close then he leaps-out into the open. He stays under cover until he is ready to reveal himself.

It is the same with the Lord, and at this point in the Tribulation period, he will show himself, and bring death and destruction to His enemies! He will never hide himself again; the time of the mystery of God is over at this point!

Don’t sit on the fence.  Today is the day of Salvation.  Don’t wait! Call on the Lord today!  And if you already have called on Him, get busy doing what He wants you to do!

(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) II Corinthians 6:2
