When I was in high school, I remember my teachers drilling into our heads that a true democracy must have regard for the rights of minorities.
I was in Canada, and this is the Canadian definition of democracy. Evidently this is not true in the rest of the world.
In Egypt, for example, as soon as the Muslim Brotherhood got more than 50% of the vote they systematically began to trample on the rights of religious minorities, like the Coptic Christians, who have lived in Egypt since before the inception of Islam.
Now there are reports that three Coptic churches have been converted to Mosques.
Did the Copts sell their churches to the Muslims? Did the Muslims buy them? Did the Copts convert to Islam? No, of course not! For some reason the Muslim Brotherhood thinks they have the right to confiscate the property of others. They also consider women to be “property”!
I find it particularly amazing that, while Morsi was busy imposing Muslim Sharia on the population, the Obama administration was adamant in their support of his administration. While some were calling for the cancellation of arms shipments to Egypt, because of the MB abuses, the Obama administration insisted that the sale should go ahead!
In spite of all the abuses of the Islamists in Egypt there still has not been one word about it from the Obama Administration.
Now that the Brotherhood has been ousted, however, Obama is reconsidering sending aid to Egypt!
If I was a secularist, I would be wringing my hands. Something is not right! Something is decidedly upside-down!
Don’t worry, God is in control. He is going to show the world that the gods of this world are no match for the Creator. In fact, the united human race, is no match for its creator!
To do that, there must be a showdown. In fact there will be several showdowns, the LAST of which the bible calls “Armageddon”! The armies of the gods of this world are going to line up against the God of gods. That will include the armies of Islam.
Psalm 83 speaks of a group of nations that will, one day soon, send their armies against Israel. Not coincidentally, this group of nations includes the nations currently under Muslim Brotherhood attack, commonly called the “Arab Spring”.
6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; 7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; 8 Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Psalm 83:6-8
This list of ancient tribes, and cities, has representation in the modern world. Their descendants are still with us. Since the current focus is on Egypt, lets take a look at the tribe here that is a part of this nation; Amalek.
The Amalekites were descendants of Isaac’s first son Esau, who lived in the area to the south of Israel in the Sinai peninsula. Their relationship with Israel was one of constant animosity. You can read about their wars with Israel in Exodus 17, Judges, 1 Samuel 15, and 30, 2 Samuel 1, and 1 Chronicles. After this they disappear from the pages of Scripture, except for the note in Psalm 83.
They didn’t really disappear, they just lived as Bedouin nomads in their ancestral lands, and fostered a continual hate for their Israeli brothers.
The cry of the MB today is the same as the goal of the conspirators of Psalm 83:4
“They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.“
This is the goal of the Arab Spring, in places like Syria, Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan. It won’t end until God’s will is done!
While I support the Egyptian army, in their attempt to defeat the MB, I’m afraid they will not succeed. God is going to bring about the Psalm 83 war, in His time, and there is nothing we can do about it. (Nothing but preach the gospel of Jesus Christ!)
It appears that God’s timing is very, very soon!
